Question:
Let's start the "Century Club Page!"

Hi everyone! I'd like to suggest a new page for the website, The Century Club! It would contain a list of members who have lost 100 pounds or more after having any type of WLS. Anyone else think this is a good idea? There could be a link to their email, for people wanting to ask questions of us privately. Perhaps whomever moderates this question could send this request on to Eric for consideration. If you've lost a hundred pounds or more, please respond to this question, so pre-ops can see how many of us there are. Go Century Club! Jaye Carl, RN, open proximal RNY (divided) 7-29-99, 103 pounds gone forever!    — Jaye C. (posted on April 24, 2000)

Jaye C. I haven't even had surgery yet (scheduled for open RNY May 9) but I can tell you that when I do hit that -100 lbs. I would love to have a special page to shout about it. I think it's a great idea. It's also very encouraging for those of us who are pre-op and those post-ops who are on their way.

Jaye C. - Even though I am still just a "lonely" pre-op, I think your idea is GREAT! There should be some event to look forward to "after" surgery! I know that just changing my description from "looking into surgery" to "Surgery date scheduled" was a huge milestone for me! I can't wait to change it to "Post-op"! One more thing to look forward to after WLS!

I think this is a great idea. I wish that this site was here when I was going through everything. I had so many questions at that time. My surgery was 8-1-97 and I lost 115 pounds and they are still off. I would be glad to be a part of this group and answer any questions be open to anyone who wants to e-mail me. Great idea.

I'm still a pre-op, but I would love to have a Century Club to aim for when I am post-op......if I have optimal results, I'll lose around 200 pounds so I want somewhere to celebrate with people who know what it really means!

This is a great idea. Especially the part about being able to e-mail our questions. Some of the questions I have had are of a sensitive or sexual nature and who better to answer than an "old pro". I would like to be able to discuss all aspects of my life that are going to be changing. I think The Century Club is also another great goal for me to attain. GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!

I think the Century Club is an excellant idea that would benefit all involved. For pre-ops...how much more proof of success could you ask for. For recently post-ops...the light at the end of the tunnel. For those well on there way... a look at thier final destinations. For those who have already reached this wonderful milemarker...what a sense of accomp- lishment it will be to be able to include thier name on this list. Again, I think its a great idea...cant wait to hopefully join this prestigious list someday!!!!!

Hi Jaye C, I think your idea of a Century Club is fantastic! I believe that it will give all the pre-ops hope! I know for me as a pre-op it was so uplifting to see all the post ops who had lost 100 pounds. It also helped me to know that this surgery does work when all else fails. I had my surgery in July of 1999, I started out at 251 pounds and I am now down to 145 pounds. So, in 9 months I have lost 106 pounds and feel so good. By the way, Congrats to you on your weight loss...keep up the good work. Hugs...

I now have 107 reasons to join the Century Club (?'Century Plus Club?'). Open RNY 9/23/99. Age 63. Feeling like a Quarter of a Century now (except for recent breast cancer diagnosis. But am sure in better shape for chemo & radiation than I was 9 months ago. I'll beat that too!) And don't forget to make a donation to Eric Klein for keeping us all going. Love to all...Barbara Greenstein
