Question:
AT 6 weeks post-op....are hot peppers ok?

My Dr. told me at 4 weeks to go on solid foods, which I have with no problems at all! I have never gotten anything stuck and have never thrown up. I am very careful and eat tiny bites with lots of chewing....now, I would like to have a couple of "nachos" with hot peppers. Has anyone else had hot peppers and if so, did you do ok?? I don't wish to put anything in my new "little friend" that might burn it's tender little walls....lol. Thanks in advance for the help. Love and light,    — medium (posted on December 30, 2002)

Oh, my gosh. I couldn't even think of eating anything like peppers! Your stomach is still too tender to tolerate anything like that! Don't do it!

i would stay away from the hot peppers for now. remember that your stomach is very new, and needs time to adjust to foods before going for something so spicy and heavy. i absolutely love spicy buffalo wings and chicken tenders, but i stayed away from them until about 4 months post-op, and i was fine. give your new stomach time to adjust. in time, you will be able to eat everything you used to.

I was told spices and such were fine as tolerated. Try a little and see if it upsets the old tummy - if it does then don't eat em again for a while and if not then enjoy!
