Question:
Was this dumping?

Last night I had cramps, sweating, shakiness, and weakness. It was 3 hours after a snack of suger-free pudding, and 6 hours after a 1/3 tortilla with low-fat cream cheese and salsa (yes, I know that wasn't smart).    — orleans (posted on February 5, 2006)

Those symptoms do sound a lot like dumping. However, dumping usually occurs more like 1/2 an hour after you eat something too high in sugar or sugar alcohols of just too much. For me,anyway. I would run that by your Dr. It could also be symptoms of low blood sugar or something else.

Hi, I checked your profile to see what type of surgery you had and how long ago it was, it says you are hoping to have surgery. If this is true, and you haven't had it yet, my guess is it was the sugar free jello??? The first time I had it it tore me up a bit. If that is something you eat regularly, then I haven't a clue! LOL Try seperating the offending items and give it another go, at least you would be sure then of what it was that made you feel so shaky. Good luck, SassyLu

might be delayed dumping, its rare but can occur. check with your doc, cream cheese and salsa might have been high sugar. anyone can dump on anything

It sounds too long after eating, but then it could be....it could also be from eating too fast...that is my culprit...check in with the Dr. or team and LOL.....

I doubt it is "true" dumping, which occurs not to long after the offending food.

Have you had surgery? If yes, I would say that was dumping unfortunately. Usually that happens within a few minutes but it takes a while sometimes for the food to work through the system. Most dumping happens from the pouch but it can happen farther down, according to what I have been told from my dr's office. I was having the same trouble with getting diahrea hours after eating.

I agree with the rest of the posters that your syptoms happened too long after eating. However, cream cheese is a holy terror on my system even at 4 years out. I get the same syptoms you described (except for the shakiness), and it ususally occurs several hours after, and sometimes the next day after eating cream cheese. I don't know why, but it happens ever time I eat it.

Usually dumping occurs closer to eating. You must be digesting really slowly if it was from eating!
