Question:
How do you get back on track?

I had RNY in 2008, I lost 1/2 (117 lbs.)of me and feel great. Here lately I feel like I can eat as much as what I did before surgery... :( I feel hungry all the time and want to eat. Have I stretched my pouch and now hopeless... How can I get back to eating the smaller portions and feeling full again?    — * S. (posted on October 9, 2010)

Go back to eating high protein and fiber. This makes you less hungry. Carbs increase the appetite.

You have done incredibly well with your weight loss!! Congrats!! Don't let this get away from you. Your pouch may have stretched some, but you will still never be able to eat like you did before surgery. Try going back to a liquid diet for a week, also drinking lots of water. That will shrink your pouch some and help you start over. High protein high fiber is a good answer too. Measure your solid food when you start back on solids. One cup of food, or a little more is all you should allow yourself. Go back to the basics of when you first started loosing. Keep busy and get in all the exercise that you can. You can do it!

have you tried a program? Like Weight Watchers or CFBN.com (It's free). Also have you increased you exercise? Our surgery is a tool we have to figure out how to use it. As for stratching you pouch. -- I fyou haven't been eating in excess (where you feel really tight or pain) then it's not likely. BUT keep in mind you body will figure out ways to hang onto calories. The trick is to stay one step a head of the change =) Good luck!

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss. Secondly, NO YOU ARE NOT HOPELESS!! None of us ever are, NEVER!! The suggestion to eat a high protein, high fiber diet is a good idea. I have switched back to that myself afer some unwanted weight gain. The pounds are coming off again. I think the critical thing is some healthy introspection. What is important to you? Food, or the new you? I have just gone through this so I know of what I speak. You took a very drastic measure two years ago and literally had your anatomy changed. Think of all the hours you spent contemplating that move. Think of the day before your surgery, or the hours before. I imagine you had some degree of discomfort after the surgery, but it was worth it, wasn't it? Friend, you have to dig deep and decide you're worth changing for. Food is just food. It doesn't love you. Do you love you? I love me more than food. You can do this. and oh yeah, your pouch will shrink. Now go live !! God's Blessings, Ray

Oh My ...You're my long lost twin. I am going through the very same thing. I want to eat everything and i have gained about ten pounds. Talk about the fear that comes along with the weight gain. I guess we have to hang in there and try the suggestions that were given. Good Luck.

I am having the same issue. I am up 11 lbs above my target weight. Just saw my doctor two days ago and his suggestion: Join this website and get support! Past that, food journal and see him back in a month - answer to the scale once per week.
