Question:
I was too embarrassed to ask the doctor.How soon post op to have sex?

My doc said 6-8 weeks, but i had sex around the 4th week and had open RNY

Doc never really gave me any restrictions. I think I felt up to it around 4-5 weeks-ish.

doc told us -- when we felt like it -- you can't do any damage -- except the jiggling of the belly might be uncomfortable -- and it might even make ya feel better :)

Why on earth would you be embarassed to ask that question, hes like any other dr. Its like any other major operation, usually 6 weeks.. Good luck.

My Dr. actually told me wait three weeks...really wasn't up to it then it's according to how you feel....

It has been 4 months since my surgery. When I came home I had drain tubes in for a week. So I waited to have sex about 9 days. Good luck with your surgery. God Bless, Vanessa

I snicker when I read this question, That was the first question my husband asked the doc at the first consult! ROTFLMAO! Doc told his as soon as I felt like it, we could go for it! I'm having Lapband Oct 17th.

After my first RNY, it was 1 day. (Had a private room.) After my revision last month, it was 4 days. The medical advice I got was "as soon as you want". There are lots of positions and activities that don't require anyone on top of your tummy. Good luck

You should wait until drains and sutures are removed and the incision is healed. Incision should be healed. Try to avoid anything that puts pressure or stress on the incision... don't let your belly hand down, use pillows for support and try to avoid having any pressure or weight on your belly. Other than that, whenever you are ready and comfortable, go for it. If you do start to feel pain, then taking a break would be an excellent idea. Best wishes.
