Question:
is lap band better than realize band?

I have lost 31 lbs to date. I had sugery Oct.16 of 08. My band holds 9 cc's. Does this mean that it is not as tight to start with? My friend had lapband with 4 cc's and has had more weight loss in less time. I feel restriction but feel like I have always been able to eat more than her. I usually stop eating before I want to. My band has 6 cc's in it now, with only room for 3 more. I'm scared I won't ever get to that "sweet spot" I hear about.    — ncjackrussell2 (posted on June 9, 2009)

I have the realize too. According to my doctor, it is determined at the time of surgery according to the size of your stomach. You can always have more saline added. You are not at the max...I wouldnt worry. Do you go to the dr often? Can they tell you what you are doing wrong? They should be able to guide you a little. WRite back if you want....

Everyone is diffrent my band is at 7 and i do not feel anything. I had my band July 24, 2008 I only lost 30 lbs, i lost 21 lbs the first week and the other few pounds by six week and have not since. I workout and eat right and I never felt my sweet spot. I go see my dr next week hope to take the band out and get something else. Like I said everyone is diffrent my sister in law had hers in Nov she is losing weight so well, and she has not had a fill yet. So i guess it is for diffrent people.

From my understanding their exactly the same. Just made by different companies. And the realize offers more online support supposedly. Good luck and God Bless.

There are some differences between them. For example, the lapband has a smooth, even surface all the way around the part of the inside of the band where the saline goes, whereas the Realize band's portion that holds the saline looks more like little pillows lined up end all the way around.
