Question:
IS THERE A GENERAL COST OR SPECIFIC RANGE OF THE SURGURY

OK, I AM ALL BUT ONE YEAR POST-OP AND I AM LOOKING INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF PLASTICE SURGURY. THE ONLY THING IS IM NOT LOADED WITH MONEY TO DO IT. WILL INSURANCE COMPANIES HELP WITH ANY PORTION OF THE COST IS THE 1ST QUESTION? MY SECOND QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE PRICE RANGE I AM LOOKING FOR TO HAVE THIS DONE? I AM LOOKING INTO HAVING A TUMMY TUCK TO HAVE THE EXCESS SKIN REMOVED. IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.    — Medtech (posted on April 23, 2003)

Jason, I'd check the library for price ideas. I've seen lots of posts with varying amounts on different surgeries. Partly it depends on the magnitude of what you need to have done as well as where you're located as some parts of the US are more pricey than others. (or if you're willing to go outside the US). It depends on your insurance as to whether or not they cover the surgery at all. Many do if you can prove medical necessity because then its considered reconstructive instead of cosmetic. I'd check your policy for more info on that. If they don't have an airtight exclusion I'd get started on documenting your problems. Rashes from hanging skin, back pain, difficulty exercising, etc. You'll find a lot of information on that as well in the library. Good luck & congrats on your weight loss!

I do not want to seem harsh, but you need to call your insurance company and see what they cover, once you see the Plastic Surgeon, you can ask him/her what the cost of additional surgery would be above the surgery paid by insurance. My insurance will cover the TT and a breast lift/reduction, but will not cover for the bat wings on my arms to be removed, so when the time comes, when I have the breast reduction, I will see about paying the adddition cost for the arms to be done at the same time, that way I have to pay for the surgeon, the OR and all will be paid by insurance. Hope this helps
