Question:
Anyone have better luck in their social life after surgery?

I'm 27 single female, hoping to have surgery in September. Has anyone had success stories with dating after surgery? I am hoping this surgery will give me more confidence to "get myself out in the open market," and meet a Nice guy for once.    — WENDY W. (posted on June 27, 2000)

I am 27 and had the surgery this past December. I was 260 and have since dropped down to about 180. My social life has rocketed. In fact I have a steady boyfriend who wants to marry me. My self confidence has increased and I am happy about life (most of the time). I am interested in knowing what your BMI is and what made you interested in the surgery

Although I am going through a divorce. My confidence has sky rocketed. I feel so good about myself. I had my surgery on the 12 of April and so far has lost 62lbs. People are starting to notice the difference in me.

I'm 37 and single. I had my surgery 12/08/99 and am now size 6-8 (was 18-20). I have no problems getting dates. Haven't found anyone special yet, but it's fun looking. I think dating still has it's ups and downs, like it does for anyone. It's just nice that weight isn't the issue anymore.

Well, I'll have to let you know. I will be totally honest with you. I have NEVER had a man compliment me and be interested in me as a date or any other way for my whole life-not even my ex- husband, but that's another story!!!! On Father's Day we went to a friend's house for a Bar-B-Que and when he saw me he whistled and exclaimed."Wooooo Hooooooooo, girl, if I wasn't married to Linda I'd be after you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Honest, first time in my life I got a compliment (other than you have a pretty face). I had to smile and I admit it was nice but you know what, I am still the same person I was at 375 pounds, only now with 110 pounds off, I have better sales appeal. I do feel better, am more happy and have a bit more confidence, so maybe this positive atttitude and tentativlly emerging confidence will attract the opposite sex and boost my morale! But I am content with my life as it is and like Paul says I know what it is to be in need and what it is to have plenty. Now that I have finally resigned myself to being single and alone and male-less, God gives me WLS and now I'm afraid of what else He may have in store for me. LOL But seriously, I do see that many many people do have a resurgence in their social lives when they are thinner and unfortunately, this is exactly what we have all experienced from the delining perspective, also. More weight, less interest. Less weight, more interest. It is the way it is so we have to live with it or do something about it. Hope things go well for you.

I lost 131 lbs and went from a size 28 to a size 12. (On a thin day even a 10!) I feel so much better about myself that I started going out regularly. As a single woman it was MUCH easier being thinner. I remember having had 7 dates in a 5 day period at one point. I've never gotten that kind of attention before. I even took my 20-something daughters out to the local country club. Some of their friends came over and the youngest of them kept asking me to dance, while the oldest asked them. This 26 year old actually asked me to go home with him and didn't flinch an inch when I mentioned that I am 47 years old. He just called me one hot momma. :)
