I felt weird but it wasn't painful. Just a tiny little pinch where it was stuck due to dried fluid. But this was a plastic surgery drain, not a bypass post-op drain. I never had one for that.

Hi.... YES.......... I have to say it did hurt me. I asked and said to look at chart on the wall and look at the smile faces... and look to the one with a sad face and boy was he right.... But it was so quick. Good Luck... This was with RNY. But maybe you won't need a drain. Debbie

HELL YEAH IT HURTS, NOT THE 1ST ONE BUT THE SECOND ONE IS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANT TO KICK THE DOCTOR

Mine didnt hurt at all-- just a brief pinch and gone. So glad to not have it hanging off me I didnt care! NG tube coming out was a bit more uncomfortable but again, so glad to have it out made it very tolerable and it's quick.

It was an unpleasant sensation, but I wouldn't call it painful. But it's over very fast.

take you pain meds 1/2 before removal and be sure to have a ride home, dont drive after taking pain meds!

Mine didn't hurt coming out but that night I was such pain that I thought I was dying. Turns out I have a weak adomenal wall. Anyway a day or two later I was fine!

I cried. It was over in a second, but it burned and hurt like crazy.

I didn't feel a thing! I turned my head and told my doctor to go ahead and remove it and he told me he was already done! Everyone is different, but I pray yours will be as easy as mine.

I've had two and I actually removed the second one. Neither hurt. It feels weird, but not painful.

I'm a baby when it comes to the medical profession. Scared of needles and such. The removal of the drain tube was NOT painful - just a very different sensation. I could feel the tube travel from my navel until it was all the way out. But it didn't hurt. If you're concerned, ask your nurse for some pain meds a bit before they remove. Good luck!
