Question:
I am in a slump - am sick of salad, cottage cheese and can't stomach the water.

I have lost 30 pounds in 18 weeks since LB surgery, but am needing some help to get motivated. My sweet tooth is really kicking in again and I am wanting to snack even though I know I am not hungry. Any body have any uplifting ideas? Thanks    — beckiemclarty (posted on September 18, 2007)

If you need a snack, try a sugar-free popcicle, sugar-free pudding, sugar-free jello, Did you know that there are very few carbs and calories in Kool Whip. I keep this in the freezer and have a couple spoonfulls when I am craving ice cream. Look around, there are things out there that will satisfy that sweet tooth without going off track. Good Luck - Judy Harris

Excellent advice all those choices are PERFECT! Also you can try chewing on crushed ice to get the water content and the eating something, under control. Also get more activities to take your mind away from dwelling on eating!

I don't know about the LB surgery. I had RNY. But I noticed when I started eating bad foods (ex. anything with carbs or sugar), I started getting hungrier and wanting more, more, more. If I stuck to protein I never got hungry! And I waited almost a full year to touch anything with sugar so my body had detoxed and I felt SO GOOD! Now I am pregnant and eat bad foods often when I crave them and I feel awful. I have had a normal pregnancy weight gain, but I am going to try and go back to basics after baby comes. It is not bad to snack (with good snacks). You have to keep your body full constantly that way you don't reach for bad foods. Good Luck

My support group served & gave this recipe. It's really good too. I hope you are able to buy this powdered protein. It's easy to find/order on the web - UNJURY! UNJURY Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge: 1/4 cup margarine 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 2 scoops Chocolate UNJURY (40 grams protein) 10 individual packs Splenda Measure 2 scoops of chocolate UNJURY in a bowl. Add 10 pkgs of SPLENDA. Mix thoroughly with a fork. Set aside. In a saucepan melt margarine & peanut butter - warm-up only, just enough to melt - do not boil/cook. Remove from heat & mix thoroughly. Let saucepan cool 2 minutes. Slowly add Chocolate mix to margarine mix. Thorough mixing is important. Place in a small container & chill in fridge. Very good chocolate/candy-like taste. SERVINGS: 9 small, 11.5 gm protein, 6.8 carbs

Jello! Make your DIET/Sugar-free jello more festive with some of your meal's fresh fruits like the bananas, strawberries, pears, etc. Just add them to the bowl after the jello starts to set (that way they will not all sink to the bottom). Very tasty. Very pretty.

if you are drinking protein drinks that you mix on your own, I add sugar free coffee flavoring, they are not only sugar free, but have no carbs or calories. That is how I make it through and boy do I have a sweet tooth.
