Question:
I have went from a size 22 down to size 13 in 5 months.........

When I go shopping I still find myself in the plus sizes and it is very hard I even occasionally pick up items in my old size then I lay them back down.I do not miss the larger size by all means but I do not understand why I still do this!I also do this when eating I pile my plate just like I used to even though I now only eat maybe a couple of Tablespoons in a serving. What am I thinking???    — davonjack (posted on July 21, 2010)

Well, I can see where you still want to buy the plus size clothing, but the food, no way! The way I look at it is; I went through hell with this surgery and I am so compliant with the diet that now I am underweight. I will tell you this, going to a psychologist does wonders, I was looking in the mirror at 129 lbs and I didn't see myself thin, too thin, matter of fact, but going to the Dr has helped me considerably. Do yourself a favor and seek counseling, it is just another part of this weight loss process. Good luck!

Boy how did you do this so fast from a 22 to a 13. Yes, I will tell you seek counseling. I too go through the same thing and it is mind boggling at times.

Dont' feel bad. I am 6 and a half months out and I do the same thing. I fill my plate and only eat a few spoonsful. Now I'm trying to take a smaller plate and put less on it. I went from a size 16,18 to a size 4,6 in 6 months. I was 199.7lbs. and am now 110lbs. I have lost 89lbs. My friends think I look anorexic even though I'm not. I was told that the weightloss will stop when my body is happy with a certain weight. I had to have the surgery done twice and I had many complicatons. I was in the hospital for 16 days and intensive care for 4 days and received 16 units of blood. I thank God my surgeon and his team for me being here today.

First, huge congratulations on your success! You are in the early stages of breaking habits that took years to form. Something that helped me with the food was to use a salad plate instead of a full sized plate. There are also child size utensils available that help the size bite you take...not baby spoons, but made just like regular utensils only smaller. Put pictures of your new self on the fridge, in the bathroom, anywhere you can display them. The more often you look at them, the more that self image will be ingrained in your head. Best wishes for your continued success!
