Question:
has anyones insurance ever paid for a boob job?

I am 8 months post op and am doing great! I am already considering my options on plastic surgery and I think I am going need my boobs done!!! I was wearing a DD before my surgery and now that the fat is gone off of them, they are SAGGY!!! My stomach is not that bad yet (but I am still losing) . Has anyones insurance paid for fixing this problem? Or should I start saving my money - and... how much does this usually cost? I would appreciate any info. Have your Doctor perscribe a powder for the rash under your boobs and belly. If you have a problem with a rash caused by the excess skin, your medical may allow corrective surgery. I went from 44DD to 38 long. Good luck!! addie

Hello there and to answer your question yes I had a breast reduction a few years ago and went from a G to a full C which is great and my insurance paid 100% for the operation all I had to tell the doctor was that I had lots of back pain and also had the rash that you are talking about and that was that I was approved in less than a month and then I had the surgery and now (smile) I dont even have to wear a bra unless I want to...

If all you need is a lift (and it sounds like that may be the case) more then likely, insurance won't cover it. I was a DD too before WLS and went down to a VERY saggy D. I had a breast lift (no need for implants) and I'm now a very perky and full C cup. Even though I tried to get the insurance to cover it, I was denied as it being cosmetic. Breast reductions are typically covered if they remove 500 grams from each breast (that's about a pound). So if your a DD now, that would probably take you down to a very small B or an A cup size. In other words, I'd probably start saving now!!

I had a breast lift and it was not covered. I have heard of people having a breast REDUCTION and that was covered. An actual boob JOB with implants, I cannot see insurance paying for it. :(

You sound just like me. I was a 44 DDD before WLS, now after a 130+ pound weightloss, I am a 34 C and empty! I am going to have implants more than likely this summer. They sage but don't cause any kind of a rash, so I think I will have to pay for it. The surgeon's initial letter said about $5500 (here in California) for the entire procedure. I'll let you know how it goes. Most surgeons will let you finance the surgery, or you can always use a no or low interest credit card and pay it back!
