Question:
WILL THEY PICKUP WHERE THE LAST INS. CO.LEFT OFF?

WILL BC/BS PICK UP MY APPROVAL THAT I GOT FROM ACCORDIA?MY INS. HAS CHANGED TO BC/BS AND I AM AFARAID THEY WILL NOT COVER IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS APPROVED BY ACCORDIA.I AM RUNNING OUT OF TIME. MY SURGERY DATE IS2/11/2002. I SPOKE WITH A REP. FROM BC/BS AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT COVER IT. DO I HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON? PATTY    — patty C. (posted on January 6, 2002)

Patty, Call BC/BS back and tell them you want to see it in writing. You should also be able to get a copy of the policy through your HR dept. I called BC/BS in Colorado and was told over the phone that the surgery was not covered. I asked them to send it in writing and discovered that they do cover the surgery, although they don't cover any weight loss medications, doctor visits, etc. Don't give up yet. If there is an absolute exclusion in your policy, you may not be able to do much, but make sure that's the case first. Best of luck to you.
