Question:
Will I need as much time off from work for my second surgery?

For my first surgery I had a months worth of paid leave saved up. That surgery was last February. Now I have to have a second surgery due to a staple line distruption. I'm only going to have about 2 1/2 weeks of paid leave and I'd really rather not get into the unpaid thing. My job is totally sit down and I've heard that the second procedure isn't nearly as traumatic. What do you think? Will 2 1/2 weaks be enough?    — Meredith A. (posted on March 7, 2002)

Hi there, I had open RNY in November and went back to work 12 days later. I also have a sit down job and did not have any problems. I was tired but that is it. I think you will be fine with 2 1/2 weeks off. Good Luck and sorry you have to go through it again.

I had open RNY November 19 01 and I went back to work the following monday (1 week). My job is behind a desk. You should be fine. Good luck.
