Question:
Plastic Surgery- back to work in 7-10- Possible?

Hi folks, I'm scheduled for a mastopexy with implants and an abdominaplasty Sept. 12. I have only taken a one weeks vacation. Surgery is scheduled early Friday morning. I asked the surgeon what the "best case scenerio" would be for time off of my desk job...he said 7-10 days. Of course I'm optomistic that all will go well (despite having a major complication and needing two weeks more than planned for my open RNY). However, even if all goes smooth as glass, is 7-10 pushing it? I understand that you can never really predict these things and will deal with any problems as they arise...but like I said...if all goes to plan can it be done? There are reasons I'd rather not get into as to why I want to limit my time off from work. Any input from those who've done what I'm contemplating doing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Kim open RNY 7/17/01 -145ish    — KimBo36 (posted on July 21, 2003)

I had similar surgery and went back to work in that time frame. I had to go home early a couple of days simply because I was exhausted but I bounced back pretty quick. I hope you do too!

I wouldnt have wanted to go back at 2 weeks. If you can - more power to you. Just remember you will have drains in. and you also dont want to 'over do it' that can affect your plastic's recover.

I was back part time (desk job) in 2 weeks, full time by 3 weeks. I didn't go back until my drains were out which was at 10 days. Your going to be tired and still kinda hurting but it shouldn't be too bad. Also depends on how much muscle tightening they do on the TT. I didn't have to have much of that done. A friend of mine had it done a week later with Alot of tightening and she had alot more pain. Just take it easy and don't over do it.

I had a complete abdominoplasty and liposuction of the upper arms and could have easily have went back to work in about 10 days from surgery.
