Question:
Where do you buy Designer protein and does it taste good?

I'm trying to get in all the protein I can, cause some days I totally fail at this. Seems like all week long at work I can stick to the program but weekends throw me off kilter. I heard someone mention Designer protein and want to learn more about it. Also, any other protein suggestions. BUT tuna, chicken, turkey, other meats, I'm not ready for at months out. — blank first name B. (posted on December 30, 2001)

I buy Designer protein at GNC. 2.1 lb. can (1 month supply at 1 shake a day) is $30 ($24 if you have a gold card that you can use the first week of every month). It is the only protein powder that I liked. I mix mine with 1 cup of skim milk (25g of protein).

I use Carb Solutions; it is 4gms of carbohydrates and 20 gms of protein per 8 oz in the powder form and 120 calories. It also has 100% of many nutrients and it tastes good. I lost 70 ppounds preop with this and still use it now and am down 60 more #.

Carolyn, this so funny! I read this question and was about to answer you with the fact that I hate Designer protein and that I really like ProBlend 55 Mocha Cappucino. Then I remembered I was out of Lactaid skim milk (I use a splash of it in my shakes). So I left the net, went to the store and got my milk. I never threw away the can of designer. I figured, well I should try it again --it's been at least 4 months since I tried it and didn't like it and tastes do change. So I just made a shake with 2 scoops Designer Chocolate, 1 tbsp low fat peanut butter, 2 oz milk, 6 oz water, crushed ice. This is one of the BEST SHAKES I've ever had! Oh and I added a splash of sugar free calorie free chocolate syrup. Tastes like a Choc PB shake! Very good. Good luck and God Bless! These protein shakes have been my saviour when I crave something sweet.

Hi there, Kimberly is on to something! LOL It is so funny how things I couldn't eat post op I can now eat almost a year out. I liked my Designer Pro right from the start, but about 6 months out I developed a distaste for it! Now I like it again- hmmmmmmm Funny how our bodies and tastes change? I use the Chocolate with a banana, and crushed ice. But I am going to try it with peanut butter too- sounds good!

My doctor recommends ProComplex. Sold at GNC (if you join their card club - you get 20% off the first week of the month). Comes in chocolate and vanilla. Mixes really easily ... I drink mine with water and ice. 60 grams of protein - hardly any fats or carbs. Love it! Drink it every day in addition to getting plenty of protein in through food. I consider it my "protein insurance." Best of luck to you. Open RNY 7/17/01.

As you've noticed, taste is an individual thing. I love DP. Early post-op I drank it mixed with water or diet soda. At about 6 months, I switched to mixing it with milk. I never buy mine at GNC - way too expensive! Because both my husband and I drink a shake a day, we buy it in 2-lb cans, from either www.vitalady.com or www.netrition.com -Kate-

Designer Strawberry is the ONLY protein supplement I've been able to drink. I've been drinking it mixed with crystal light strawberry for a year now.
I buy it online at:
http://www.juicers.net/desprotstraw.html
for only $19.95 per tub. That's $10 cheaper than GNC, and it's free shipping right to my door when I order 2 tubs or more.

Vitalady (Michelle Curran) has a website that offers lots of different kinds of proteins, vitamins, tips & tricks, and lots more. Her site is: http://www.vitalady.com/ Prices are good and delivery is fast. I just received my order of protein this week.

The only protein supplement that I like, and will drink, is called Designer Protein Smoothie in AbBerry Sundae. It's a powder made with whey protein and comes in individual envelopes. 8-10 ice cubes, the powder, water, and half a banana in a blender and to me, it tastes as nice as anything I've gotten at a juice bar. Better news still: it's only 180 calories, 13 grams of carbs and a whopping 27 grams of protein. I got mine by doing a search under the name in the Yahoo shopping area. All the best!

I am not into the protein drinks but I cannot live without the Designer Protein Bars. I have one everyday fror breakfast and sometimes another if I am really craving something bad! They are very chewy and have a great consistency - they take awhile to eat and leave me very satisfied. My fav flavors are Chocolate Absberry, Malted Milk Ball and Chocolate Espresso. I get mine from www.netrition.com as they are about half of retail price and no matter how much you order, you only pay $4.95 for shipping! They are also VERY fast!!
