Question:
I have a question about plastic surgery.....or not

I have a friend who is one year post op and just had a tummy tuck. I thought I was gonna pass out when I saw her scars which go both vertical and horizontal. Here's my question. I started out at 286. I'm down to almost 200 at 6 months post op. I have about 70 lbs. to go. I could wear a size 16-18 if it weren't for my stomach being so big. Is there a way to get rid of the big stomach w/o surgery? Pants that fit around the waist are too baggy in the legs. Pants that would fit in the legs I can't get up past my belly. Is this gonna get better? I really don't want another surgery. But I DO want this belly problem to go away. Any advice?    — blank first name B. (posted on May 2, 2002)

Carolyn: depends on your age, elasticity in your skin. At 46 yrs of age, my skin is not so elastic anymore and I will have to have TT..But my scar will be just horizontal at base of abd. Not all surgeries (TT) require a vertical scar as well. depends on the body shape, amount of skin to lose, etc. Youth is a big thing..the younger you are, the better chances of not having to have PS. Hope this helps, Hugs, MJ
