Question:
Hi everyone, I would like to know if anyone knows any other surgeon that does the DS

I live in the S.F. bay area and want to know if there are any other surgeons besides DR.Rabkin that does the DS procedure. I would love for Dr. Rabkin to do my procedure but it takes 4 months just to get a consultation.    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 22, 2002)

Dr. Gregg Jossart also does the DS. He is the chief of laparscopic surgery at Cal Pacific Medical Center, and worked as a team with Dr. Rabkin for 18 months or so. They did my DS as a team, and he has put quite a few surgeries under his belt. He is right down the hall from Rabkin's office, and is generally much more accessible. I don't believe they have much of a support group, although there is a Yahoo group devoted to his patients. -Kate-

Hi there, I'm hoping to have surgery with Dr. Jossart over the summer. You should definitely join the yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Jossart/. There are tons of helpful pre and post-op patients who are very willing to give you tons of information. Dr. Jossart is also very accessible. He'll find time to call you if you ask, he'll answer emails (although I noticed they just took his personal email addy off of the website http://www.lapsf.com) and I hear he's just a great doctor all around. I had wanted Rabkim at first too.... but after someone in his office said Dr. Jossart wasn't doing WLS and I later found out that wasn't true, I was a little eh about Rabkim. Dr. J also has a lower fee and less of a wait time I hear. Good luck (and good choice ;)!

u might want to check with dr ara keshishian in delano calif. (661) 725-4847. i met him last nite & hes a very nice man. gave me the impression that he is very dedicated to his patients.

You may want to make an appointment with Dr. Rabkin while you're looking. He is one of the top 3 DS surgeons in the world and just may be worth the wait.. YMMV
