Question:
Is losing 97 pounds in 9 months good?

I feel like most people have lost more than me. My pre-op weight was 280.    — jewelsemt (posted on March 4, 2003)

I'm 10 months post-op and down 97 lbs. (I'd love to say an even 100 one of these days). My pre-op weight was 276. Some days I think it's good, and some days I think I haven't done as well as I could have. My weight loss has been at a standstill for 5 weeks now. Hugs, Joy

Sounds great to me too !!! When was the last time you lost about 11 pounds a month on average and was able to keep it off?? Don't compare yourself to others even though it's hard not to. Just remember, no matter how long it takes to come off, it's coming off for good. :) Keep up the good work :)

I am one-year post-op today (hats and horns for me!) I have lost 110 lbs. and started as a "lightweight." I need to lose another 7-10 lbs. to be at goal. I have been losing and regaining the same 3 lbs. for the last 5 weeks. Still, I'm very happy with the results. There's always someone who has your stats, but has lost more in the same amount of time. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Enjoy your own success!

Have you every lost almost 11 pounds a month for nine months in a row and kept if off before? I'm 9 months post op and have lost about 112 pounds.. yes my loss is slower than some I know, but I'm losing and that's what counts. We as a society spend too much time 'keeping up with the Joneses' as it were.. celebrate your success and continue to move on.. you're doing great. ~Peace

Julie, its excellent! You will always find people who lose faster than you-its a fact, even if you start on the same day and are the same height and weight. Don't pay any attention. There are some out here who are envious of your loss and saying, look at Julie, she has lost more than me!

My pre-op weight was 248. At 9 months I had lost 108 pounds. So it sounds like your right on track.
