Question:
How long does it take before all the swelling goes down???

I just had a full abdominalplasty on Feb 18 and they removed 6 pounds of fat and excess skin but now I weigh more than I did before surgery, the surgeon says its because of fluid and swelling but its been almost 4 weeks now and the weight has not went down, I was told after I have the skin removed I would lose an additional 10-15 pounds but I am now larger than I started, should I worry or with this go away and how long??? ~Tina~ current weight 136 use to be 130    — Lovett (posted on March 15, 2004)

Tina- I don't have an answer for you, but what does your PS say? Mine already warned me of this. I am having a LBL on the 11th of May and he told me I would retain fluid for up to 6 mos and I my weight would be up for about 6 wks. I think a 10-15 lbs weight loss from PS is unrealistic, I am 183 and I was told to only expect 5-7 lbs even though he thinks my panni weighs about 12lbs. I am told more people lose sizes than weight. hi tina, don't worry it's normal, your body still has alot of excess fluid in it yet, ans it still healing from the inside, I had my tt/mr/br and buttlift and revisions a little over a year ago and I just had my last revision done last tuesday, you'll be great, just relax and drink lots of fulids!! thoses extra pounds will start dropping soon, try this website, it's great and the ladys there are great at answering questions tuckthattummy.com

I haven't had plastic surgery before, but with all surgeries there is some fluid build up. Just be patient, all is well.

My PS said it would take 3 months before I would know what size I will really be - meaning till all the swelling is gone. I should weigh 198 based on what I weighed the day of surgery and the 19 lbs of skin removed but yet I am weighing in the 200-207 range. I'm not sweating it at all. I know it will all balance out in time. My body is going through major healing and I'm not going to worry about a few lbs right now. Relax! It will straighten out!
