Question:
A question for anyone postop who has BC/BS of Michigan and had their tummy tuck

I was just wondering how successful they were in having the operation covered. Iam currently just over six months postop so I know I still have a little while to go. I dont want to switch my health insurance but I may not have a choice due to the fact that office visits are not covered and, between myself and the kids going to the doc a lot, its adding up very quickly! If anyone thinks I should stick with what I got now (BCBS Traditional) in order to get the tummy tuck covered, Ill do it. My other options for health insurance are Care Choices, Blue Care Network, and MCare. Thanks!    — Kris T. (posted on July 31, 2003)

Hello Kris, I am 11mos post op. I am from MI and have BC/BS. I have lost 215lbs so far. I went to a plastic surgeon and had a hernia repaired along with a abdominplasty tummy tuck. It was totaly covered by the insurance. I am getting the panni tummy tuck done this fall also covered by the insurance. The criteria was to have atleast lost over 100lbs from the surgery to be covered. My doc. is currently getting the approval for my saggy breast lifted. The criteria for that procedure is to wear a "C" cup or more. I swore I wasn't going to be one of those people who get plastic surgery done, but this loose skin is ugly and won't go away no matter how much I exercise. If you want a e-mail buddy or someone to talk too for support that would be nice, especially a fellow Michigander. Good Luck! I hope I could be helpful! Beth

Hi, I had my TT paid for by BCBS of Mi, traditional. I did not need a hernia repair. My understanding is that ins will pay for it if the panni hangs below the pubic area.
