Question:
Can I reduce the amount of water in my protein shake?

I am 3 days post op and am using the Problend 55 Mocha Cap. They require 8-12 oz of water which I used 8 oz, 2 teaspoons of chocolate pudding mix, and a sprinkle of Splenda. I could not get it all in. Can I reduce the amount of water to 6 or 4 oz to make it easier to get it all in? Thanks in advance for your responses.    — lturman (posted on June 15, 2002)

I'm unclear on why you can't get it all in. Are you trying to drink it in a time limit? Three days post of I was drinking 1 oz in 15 minutes so it would take 2 hours to drink 8 oz. I had to make mine thinner to tolerate it at first. Now I drink my Designer Whey, chocolate, with 8 oz of water and 1/2 banana. I start drinking it on the way to work and finish after I get there. Still takes me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It is 35 grams of protein and is my breakfast for the day. Glad to hear you are going for the protein right away. Good for you!!

You need to halve the recipe. Use 1 scoop for 27.5 grams instead of 2 scoops for 55. With the 1 scoop you only have to use 4 oz of water. The amount of water is only a suggestion, it doesn't really change the composition of the protein. We can only absorb 30 grams of protein at a time anyway. Congrats, good luck and God bless! (that is my favorite protein brand by the way...)
