Question:
How do I know what's

Okay - I know I sound just stupid but I'm serious. I'm almost 5 months post op and I've lost 80 pounds. Here's my question. I'm starting to look more like it's falling rather than losing! I know if I didn't have all the extra "hanging" around my abdominal area I could wear two sizes smaller in my pants. Is there anyway to know what will go away and how much of it is going to be left at the end? My goal is to lose another 60 pounds before July. Right now, it's all sitting in one spot. I know it's too early to see a plastic surgeon but how can I know if anymore of it's going to go away?    — Tiffany S. (posted on December 8, 2002)

I hate to give bad news, but it probably won't go away. They say it depends on your age and the elasticty in your skin, but I lost over 100 lbs when I was in my 20's and it didn't go away but hung down my legs. I had a tummy tuck and even though I am now 53 and gained back over 150 lbs my tummy is still almost flat. See a plastic surgeon.

I have the same problem with clothes, but I am 60 and know it will not go away. But it is a bit better than early on. You, however, are younger. But it also depends on skin elasticity. By the way, what kind of exercise are you doing.

I too and experiencing the same thing. My butt, stomach, and thighs looks like a Shar-pei (spelling?) dog.....they are so wrinkled. I'm wearing a 16 pants and they fit in my waist, but are too big in the lower hips and thighs. I can't wait to get this "stuff" tightend up and/or cut-off.
