Question:
How come I can down a whole can of soup plus an added can of water?

I'm only 9 days out (OPEN VBG) yet, I can sit and consume a can of campbell's soup with a can of water added...is this because it is more a liquid than anything else? Is it OKAY TO DO? I've done it twice so far, once was chicken stars (almost broth) and the other was Cream of Mushroom (no milk, just water added). It takes me about a half hour, I sip it slowly but I can still consume it...is this bad?    — teresaxxxx (posted on August 6, 2003)

The soup is mostly water and it just passes right through the pouch. I think of the pouch as a kind of funnel. Liquids pass right through. At your stage, this is perfectly fine but as you get further out, it is better to eat more solid foods that stay in the pouch longer so you won't get hungry. Also soups have a lot of sodium. Relax, you will be fine. Take advantage of this period when you are losing so quickly and remember the "honeymoon" period passes quickly. Enjoy the journey.

Theresa, I did that too - Campbells Chicken Noodle/Stars, etc. Only Campbell's has the protein content to make a difference. Taking in a 1/2 cup hourly is not uncommon and actually good for you! Enjoy and don't feel guilty! Susan
