Question:
knowledge of Pa dr.s

Hi i am 7 months post op of a open ryn and i have lost 110 pounds so far, i have a large apron hanging down that used to be my stomach and i would like to have it removed, my insurance won't pay for it to be removed unless it causes open sores and ulcers and i don't want to wait until that happens, does anybody know of dr's in the Pa area that doesn't charge much to have this excess skin removed, i was told that i could donate my excess skin to a burn center in pittsburgh, PA but that wasn't true and then i was told that i could donate my skin to the shriners hosp. in erie, Pa but that wasn't true either, if anybody out there can help me i would be so appreciative for your responses.    — kimberlin C. Kimberlin, I don't know of any PS in the PA area, but I do know several people who have gone to Brazil for their PS - it's EXTREMELY affordable - with some of the most incredibly awesome results! There's a Yahoo group at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/MedNetBrazil/ where you can find more info if you're interested. Blessings, dina

I know that at the local teaching hospital, which is University of Pennsylvania Hospital has a plastic surgery clinic where it is cheaper to have procedures done. You still have access to the experienced surgeons who teach as well as give other surgeons the opportunity to learn. so that may be a way to get it done. Some places will actually finance your surgery too. So you can look into that also. Good luck with your search....here's the link to Penn's plastic surgery clinic.... http://www.pennplasticsclinic.com/index.html Hope this helps.
