Question:
Im not getting enough protein in. Any suggestions for a good protein shake?

Im the kind of person who would rather eat nothing than to eat something that tastes bad. Id like to find a good tasting protein supplement. Does anyone have any suggestions as to brand name and flavor?    — [Anonymous] (posted on December 5, 1999)

I started with GNC's Designer Protein powder(can), but it started tasted like pudding. Now I use GNC's PRO RX powder (envelope). I end up splitting the contents of one envelope (1 cup) into 3 glasses of milk (2/3 cup each). My regular doc is a bariatric specialist and wanted to see what I was using as a supplement. He checked out the Pro RX and it's contents are identical to the Medi-fast at his office. I use vanilla. Every other day I throw a half banana into the blender too to make sure I get enough potassium.

Try to stick with solids like meat fish tofu eggs chicken etc. Drinking high calorie fluids gets you out of the habit of avoiding them and can limit your weight loss.

I, too, had a terrible time with getting my protein in.Because of many people highly suggesting the Designer Protein brand suppliment,I tried it and really do like it. There is no after taste or gritty residue. I use 1/3 jar (or 1/2 banana) of baby food bananas, 2 frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup of orange juice, and 1/2 cup of water and 1-1/2 scoops of the protein powder. I put all this in a blender and it tastes like a strawberry milk shake. Good luck.

If you check the product information in this website, you will find lots of protein info. The one I hear the most about is designer protein available at GNC. Someone also suggested adding an extra scoop of non-fat dry milk to sugar free carnation instant breakfast. Please let us know what you find. Hi I use a product called "SOY PROTEIN-ISOLATE POWDER". It is from a mail order vitamin company named PURITANS PRIDE. Their phone number is :1-800/645-1030 or www.puritan.com They have sales all of the time for buy one get one free and sometimes have a 2 for 1 sale. The prtein powder comes in 32 oz size and is available in Chocolate, vanilla( my favorite) and plain. It is not grainy and mixes great in the blender with milk( I have to use soy milk) or juice and some ice cubes. It takes me about 2 hours to drink it but i use 3 scoopes (75 grams of protein) and 8 ounces of liquid plus about 8 or 9 ice cubes. Then I am all done for the day. I hope this info helps. Cheri
