Question:
How soon after tt can you have other procedures?

I will only have a few weeks of sick leave to use for all my plastic surgery work done. How close together can procedures be done. How much can I get done while out on sick leave for six to eight weeks. I want a tt, arm lift, breast lift, and thigh lift. — betseylovelace (posted on July 9, 2004)

You need to talk with your PS. My PS would NOT do TT and Breasts together. He will do breast, arms together. He did not release me from my TT to start the 'breast' until 8 weeks.

p.s. each person might be different; but I was off '4' weeks with my TT.

My ps will only do one procedure at a time, and there is atleast 8 weeks between procedures, he feels that gives the procedure enough time to heal before the next procedure. I have seen on this site people have had two or three or more procedures done at one time, I guess that would depend on your ps. You might want to post this question on the Plastic Surgery Message Board for more responses.

I had LBL, BL, and Inner Thigh Lift all done during one surgery. I was in surgery for 6.5 hours and took 6 weeks off work. I could have probably gone back to work at 5 weeks but had the time built up and decided to make sure I was well rested before returning. Some surgeons won't do this much work at one time but most skilled surgeons can do at least two procedures at once.

Normally most PS's will do a arm lift and breast lift at the same time. You might, and I say might be able to get a TT and thigh lift at the same time. It all depends on how much work you actually need done. Also what do you mean by a thigh lift. If you are talking the incision down the inside of the leg then normally most surgeons will not do that extensive of work with anything else. If you are talking a lateral thigh lift (outside of thighs), that typically can be done at the same time as a TT and the total procedure then becomes a lower body lift (LBL).
I had a major LBL done at once. It involved removal of 19 lbs of skin and 10-1/2 hours of surgery. I lost almost 5 units of blood and took like 4 weeks before I began to feel human again. I did go back to work part time the 3rd week and very slowly worked my way back to full time. It was probably close to 6 weeks before I was consistently full time. I also had major drain problems and ended up with 9 drains for 8-1/2 weeks. I came out of surgery with 5 drains, which were removed at 3+ weeks. I then had 4 more drain put back in over time as problem areas arose. We knew when the original 5 were removed I would have problems as I was still producing tons of fluid but the surgeon did not feel comfortable leaving those original 5 drains in any longer. I also ended up with a tear at the top of the butt crack that had to be packed for 3 months till it healed totally closed. So that surgery was a long recovery and had some significant problems. I was originally supposed to have the 2nd stage of my abdominoplasty (above the belly button), 10 weeks after the LBL. At 6 weeks we went back to insurance and got an extension as there was no way I was ready for surgery again. I waited an extra month and that made it so much better.
I had the 2nd stage 5 weeks ago and I have recovered much faster and went back to work part time the 2nd week. Since I had so much less skin to undermine (lift up) I did not have the fluid/drain problems this time. I had 3 drains and all came out a few days short of 2 weeks.
Personally I would plan on doing them at least 2-3 months apart, especially if you can combine them and do two procedures each time. All I know is I would not want to gable that everything goes just as planned and not have a contingency plan.

Betsey, I am 11 days post of a tummy tuck, breast lift with augmentation and an arm lift (cut from armpit to elbow), oh and a revision of my gastric bypass scar. I am back at work and feeling great. I took a total of 7 work days off. I will be having my butt lift and thigh lift (cut from groin to knee) in 5 weeks and will only be taking off 7 days for that. It's all in how your body handles surgery and how fast you bounce back. I'm an extremely FAST healer and have no pain and/or incisional problems except for a leaking belly button. My surgeon says that the next surgery can be performed as soon as your blood levels and blood tests results are back to normal. Good luck to you!
