Question:
Has anyone experience problems with difficulty in having sex?

I am 11 months postop and have lost 113 pounds. I thought that losing all of this weight would enhance my sex life; however, it feel as if certain areas have closed or shifted.    — [Anonymous] (posted on July 29, 2001)

I can't really answer that question for you, I am Pre-Op, however I noticed that no one had answered your post. My guess is not only is your body going through significant changes, your mind is too. Thus said, maybe your still no letting your self relax enough to let go. While your over weight you become adjusted to how you and your partner are intimate. Now, you have changed and your partner is getting used to those changes...Maybe it just takes time. Hopefully one day soon, I can give you "learn from experience", answer. Chin Up!

I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm pre-op, but to the person who wrote before me, if you are having something akin to a charlie horse, are you getting enough potassium in your diet/vitamins? If I remember from my college health classes, potassium contributes directly to muscle well-being. When I've wandered around and my calves just don't feel "right" or when you make a movement and you just know that if you don't stretch it out really quickly, you will get a charlie horse: I've found the best remedy for this is to eat a banana and stretch. Sounds a little kookie, but bananas are a great source of natural potassium.

Debby, I can't help you on the difficulty during sex part, I've never had a problem like you described, but I did have a revision from VBG to RNY. My surgeon (who did both my surgeries) completely took down the old VBG before doing the RNY. I no longer have that ring. That being said some surgeons do use a ring in RNY (like a Fobi type). I would ask about it.
