Question:
Okay, I'd like to hear from those......

individuals who started as a lightweight. Take me through your weight loss after the 6mo mark. How much did you lose, how long did you plateau, when did you lose 100lbs, etc. I understand we are all different but just wondering.    — TP (posted on February 23, 2003)

I think I'm considered a lightweight. I started at 250lbs. (I'm 5'2") My BMI was 42 or so. I had LAP RNY surgery May 31, 2002. At the 6 month mark I was down about 90lbs. Now at 8 1/2 months post-op I am down 107 lbs. I now weigh 143, and want to be 130. My weight loss has consistently been about 10lbs. per month, it is slowing a little bit, but I'm still losing. I had my first plateau at 3 weeks out, and probably have had a plateau almost every month since, but I still lose alot of weight! So it will take me less than a year to be at goal, which is right before summer, so I'm happy! Goodluck to you!

I didn't lose as fast as Lezlie, but have made it to goal. My loss slowed early on. By 6 mo. I had lost 76 lbs. and have lost 23 lbs. since then and I am 15 mo. p/o. Geez, thats only 23 lbs. in 9 months. That is really slow, but I am at goal so it really doesn't matter to me anymore. My loss chart is at the bottom of my profile. I was losing like 3 lbs. then 4 lbs. then 2 lbs. and so on for each month. And that 100 lbs.?? I have lost 99!! I'm a little obsessed with the scale watching for that last pound, although it really shouldn't matter. Oh, and I did have a (almost) 6 week plateau that was no fun. Thought I was done, but I wasn't. You'll get there, maybe slowly, but it will happen!

I was a lightweight with a BMI of 40. I have lost 124 pounds. I am now 9 months post op and just maintaining. I preety much lost all of the weight in the first six months. I went from a size 24 to a 4 in the first 6 months. I never hit a plateau during that time. I am not really losing now just half a pound here and there but I also don't want to lose anymore. Smaller than a 4 for me would be way to small because I am tall. Read my profile for more.

I started at 5' 2" 235 lbs. BMI 42. Now at 6 months post op I have lost 75 lbs. I started out wearing 2X and now can wear 14's or Med shirts. I had 1 plateau at 4 weeks out that lasted 1 month. I'm at 160 lbs. No problems at all except being cold.

Hey Linda...just curious, how much did you have bypassed? I'm just wondering if that had something to do with how fast you lost. Your weight loss time line is incredible!!

Check out the bottom of my profile for the month to month loss. I started at 249 and am now 154 at 1 year post-op. Just 9 pounds shy of my goal weight but may adjust it down a little. Its hard to lose now-am eating more, snacking too much, and trying to compensate with exercise to continue the loss-still losing but SLOWLY....
