Question:
What are sugar alcohols?

What are they called on an ingredient label? Are they OK for us postops? Do they have calories? I live in Canada and we have a very limited choice when it comes to sf foods. There are many sf foods I see listed here from US members but are not available to us in Canada. Many are not available because some of the ingredients are not made here, some ingredients are banned as food additives. Sf Carnation instant breakfast is one example.    — mary ann T. They are listed as sugar alcohols on labels in the US. It would be should under the carbohydrates, as a subsection of that. They usually end in "ol" like sorbitol as an example. I don't know if they contribute to the calories or not, but I know that you can subtract them from the carb grams because they do not have an effect on blood sugar.
