Question:
Did anyone have poor circulation problems with their nipples after breast reduction?
I had a breast reduction and tummy tuck last week. I did just fine except my nipples turned very dark around the edge of incision and some spots on the nipples. Those areas are drying up. I still have feeling in my nipples but I am afraid of what will happen when the skin dries up and comes off. I see the doctor on Monday. I know that this is something that no one will see but I am just concerned. I couldn't find much on the Internet about it. I just wondered if anyone else had that happen to them. I had a few white bumps on my nipple area after my breast reduction, they
almost looked like pipples, but they did go away. My nipples did not dry
up, so that is something you need to ask the doctor about.

definately show this to yur dr/ Yes, with any PS there can vbe changes in
the blood circualtion to the area, and tissue necrosis is a risk with many
plastic surgeries.

Hi L...try this website: www.breasthealthonline.org....It's a wonderful
site for anything and everything about your breasts. I did all my BR
research here, and they have a wonderful support system, much like AMOS.
Definitely call your PS about your nipples, but it also normal for the
tissue to be dark and then peel or slough off in the shower, and there's
nice healthy pink skin underneath. I had mine 2 years ago, and still
frequent the site...Congrats on your new girls! Denise

Hi L, I had breast reduction in 200, I had the same situation, when they
healed the dead skin fell of and it was alot lighter in that area, if
having any problems with feeling contact your primary doctor or the surgeon
immediately.

Thank you for your feedback. I went to the doctor on Monday. They told me
that they core out the nipple and the cord which attaches. When they are
done working on your breasts they coil it up and put it back in your
breast. Then they make a new hole for your nipple. Some have longer cords
than others because of various breast sizes. When they do this sometimes
there is a kink in the cord and you lose blood flow at the end of the
nipple. Sometimes the whole cord can die. Well that happened to the end
of my nipples. Like one of you said, the skin will sluff off and it will
be okay. There was live tissue underneath the black looking tissue. I
hope this will help someone else if it happens to them. The nurse said I
might find some information on the Internet under "nipple
preservation". I was pretty modest until this surgery.
