Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

My Behavioral and Emotional battle with weight control before my RNY was Brutal! I have been struggling since childhood with guilt, fear, frustration, failure, and hopelessness. I achieved great weight losses here and there when I was younger but there was always the defeat of gaining it back.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being morbidly obese is feeling gross and sick and in pain all the time. It got worse as I got older. Then diabetes reared its ugly head. I felt like I had aged 50 years!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I started at 330 pounds on 6-7-2012. I have lost 137 pounds as today 3-20-2012. What I most enjoy about the things I can do now??? LIFE! I can walk pain free. I can sleep well. I can RUN and Oh what freedom that is! I look good in my clothes! I feel beautiful, sexy, and Alive! I can go out with my 13 year old daughter and Keep Up! I am ATHLETIC! I love that! I feel like I am really LIVING now. This decision was the best one that I have EVER made!
