Hey fellow New Mexicans!!

Just thought I'd try to add a new post so that we can get some communication going.

I just got home from a vacation in Denver. We had a great time. What's even better is that i came home to a 3 pound weight loss!! woohoo!

I'm so happy that I had this surgery & I am loving this new lifestyle!

What have you been up to?

Hey Renae,
Congrats on your success.  I love this heat!!!  Just moved to Las Cruces from NJ (actually been here 13 days).  In NJ we would get temps in the high 90's, but with 95% humidity.  You could not breathe!  Here it may be hot, but that ever-present gentle breeze and the lack of humidity makes the weather glorious.

I, too, am happy I had surgery!  I get out every morning and walk the trails at a local park.  I work around my house for most of the day, and then in the evening I do Wii Fit for 30 minutes.  Before surgery, I would be sitting more than moving.

Have a great day!

Hello!

Yes, it's been very hot lately.  I was born/raised here and still can't seem to get really used to it.  I have been where it's humid (New Orleans, Florida) and I must say that I will take dry heat over humidity any day!  At least we just need to wait until the sun goes down!  :o)

I am also very happy with my surgery.  I've lost 43 lbs since surgery on March 18 and am satisfied with that.  I know others are much further ahead than me, but that's ok.  I'm a turtle, but I will get there!   I was wearing tight tight 24's and now am in 16's.  Yay!  It's all very exciting.  I feel so much better these days!

BTW - we have a support group meeting this Thursday at 6:00 at the Marriott Pyramid near Jefferson and I-25.  It's held by Las Palmas, but everyone is welcome!

Mary, I had my surgery just 9 days before you.  Our progress is very similar.  I've lost about 50 pounds since surgery, so I must be a turtle too.  I'm not complaining about it, although at the beginning I was a little disheartened.  But now I am just happy that I am losing weight and not feeling as if I am dieting.  My goal was to get heathy, and I feel healthier every day.

Hi Pat,

You are doing fantastic!  I wish I was under 200 lbs.  I would be thrilled!  I do get a little frustrated as I see others that have lost twice what I have!  I still plug along week to week.  Some weeks good, some not so good.  It's so weird - I'm not doing things differently - just some weeks are great and others little or no loss.   Like you, I feel so much healthier!  My clothes sizes are really telling the story - I'm pretty ready to throw the scale in the trash at this point!

Here's my progress.  I can't wait to get under 200!

The scale can be frustrating, especially with daily fluctuations.  We moved from NJ to NM a few months ago.  Well, actually, my husband moved here.  I had to go back to NJ to finish the school year.  When I went back to NJ, my scale stayed in NM.  That was the best thing for my psyche!  I could not get on the scale everyday.  The only time I knew what I weighed was when I went to a doctor.  Each time I went, I was a little lighter than the last.  I did not know about the daily fluctuations, so they did not bother me.  Now that I'm back in NM, I've been getting on the scale every day.  I need to stop it.  The weight is not going to come off any quicker if I weigh myself more often.

Keep doing what you're doing.  It's obviously working.

Thanks Pat.  I was weighing once a day... Was driving me nutty!  Now I weigh weekly on Tuesday mornings.  I have another buddy here and we keep each other posted.  Plus, I don't see the ups/downs so much anymore.  Try it - it works wonders! If you want, you can send me weekly updates too.  It really helps to have the buddy system going.  I feel more accountable for some reason.  Plus, I don't feel so tied to the scale.  I'm trying to look at other things like clothes sizes and just moving around better...
