Dizziness

I was wondering if anyone has experienced periods of dizziness after they have had surgery. I am almost 6 months post-op and for the last month or so I have been getting bad dizzy spells.

Any thoughts on this would be great.

How's your water intake?
It could be dehydration, if your not getting enough water you may want to increase it.

Make sure your getting some salt....not alot but some.

If your up on these, get in to see your Dr. It may be something very simple but your Dr is the best judge.

Are you on bp meds?  I had to stop mine 2 days after surgery due to low blood pressure....check in with your Dr.

my first thougths are dehydration, or low blood sugar, and then someone else mentioned about blood pressure medication. Even if you don't take meds for your bp, your bp could be lower than normal. Do you get dizzy when you get up from laying down? More details would be nice.

I still get it at 18 months out...happens when I get up too fast.  I am told it is normal post op.

So, how long are you going between eating meals. Are you getting some protein every 3 hours or so?

If you aren't eating frequently (and make sure there are carbs and protein in each meal)  try that... but make a docs apt too - getting diagnosis via the net is a bit sketchy yanno...
Sometimes the best support  you can get isn't all purple puddles and pink rainbows.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have an appointment to see the doctor on the 18Th of this month. I have been getting my 2 liters of water in everyday and I do eat every 3 hours or so. I am not on any bp meds. I was thinking that it might be my blood sugars so I am going to ask if they will run some blood work again. As for salt it is something that I don't use very often. The dizziness can occur whether or not I am just standing up, sitting or even when I am just laying down. It doesn't seem to matter what I am doing it occurs.

Thanks again for your replies. I will let you know what they tell me.
