anyone else have B12 deficiency??? i have some questions...
OK so i have been diagnosed with a b12 deficiency and I was hoping that someone can help answer some questions about it on here. TWH and my GP couldn't tell me how long these symptoms of tingly numb feet and hands will last. One said of you should feel better right after and the other said months. So has anyone experienced this and how long did it last and what did they do to fix it??
thanks

First I have not had WLS yet but yes I had the numbness it was in my hands and went up my arm to my elbow and in my legs and I spoke to my doctor who at first didn't know what it was until I had my physical and blood test showed B12 deficiency.
I was able to take pills orally but you can go and get a B12 shot once a month.

I was diagnosed with a deficiency about 5 years ago. normal range is somewhere between 150-750 - mine registered at 23.
I was going to the doctors office once a week injections.
I soon realized that I can just give myself these injections at home. i just buy the serum and needles at the pharmacy.
The reason why my doctor told me to do injections instead of vitamins is because there is only one very small part of your intestines that actually absorbs this vitamin. if you have a system that has had alot of GI issues- diarrhea etc, it may not work properly any longer. So, if you cant absorb it from food.... it has to be a needle.
You just feel very blah with low levels.... and the tingles in feet and hands..... not fun!
