Not sure if it good to offer you "congratulations" on going back to work or not?  lol   Seriously though that's great you are heading back.   I was curious about the 6 weeks however.   Was that an amount of time you choose or dr recommended?    I assume it might be different for each person but was thinking that I could be back to work after 3 weeks?   Is that unrealistic?

I am going back on Monday after 2 weeks (working from home most of next week, though) - so I think 3 weeks is totally doable, depending on how you feel.  The surgeon gave 2-6 weeks as the guideline for being off for my type of job (desk job, no lifting).

Hope this helps!

you are right i think everyone is different. i picked 5 weeks , but my 1 incision was brusied badly so it was taking time to heal.i def. would not have been able to go back to work after 3 weeks..i am almost thinking if i am going to get through monday.. i work in a pharmacy and stand for 9 hours.. but my boss is great so i can sit whenever and will be able to eat whenever.. but i find even tho i still feel good now, i tire very easily.. so only time will tell..if you find that 3 weeks is not enough your dr. will give you extra time for sure.. good luck

See that makes total sense - if I had to stand for 9 hours a day, I would not be going back to work.  I have a desk job that is also flexible to work from home when needed, so that factored into my decision.

I found it to be a bit daunting to get back to work.  I was off 8 weeks (4 weeks sick leave, 4 weeks vacation).  I set reminders on my electronic calendar to take my vitamins (mid-afternoon calcium).  I also packed my lunch and snacks the night before.

It took me about 1.5 weeks to feel comfortable in my routine of being at work.

Yes, you may tire easily as well.  I sometimes took a nap as soon as I came home from work.

Good luck!

Judy
