Its the pre op testing you do, no sooner than 30 days before surgery date. Blood work and all the other good stuff. I haven't had mine yet so I am not 100% sure what they all do , but everyone has it before a major surgery. It stands for :  Pre Admission Testing & Training.

It is your preop work up. Depending on your site it may differ. You meet with the nurse and complete another questionnaire. They do nasal and rectal swabs for MRSA AND VRE.  You meet with the Anesthesiologist, pharmacist, resident. Have bloodwork and may have EKG and chest xray

PATTS = Pre-Admission Testing and Teaching.  You need to bring your current meds (bottles) with you to the appointment.  I first went to admitting and then to the appointment.  Met with the nurse who asked ALL sorts of questions about medical history, etc.  Was weighed, measured for compression stockings, height taken.  I met with an anesthetist, and someone came and took my blood.  My appointment took approximately 1.5 hours.  Some folks will say their appointment took MUCH longer.  Bring something to drink and if you are on Optifast, bring your shakes too, plus reading material.
