I highly suggest giving yourself some buffer for bounceback. If I did it all again, I would.  It was very disheartening when the bounceback hit and it was a mental blow.  Give yourself some wiggle room.

It did come off fast !  I just realized you said 5 months.

Mine is so slow right now.  How tall are you ?  I am 5'3 so I think 130 is going to be my ultimate goal to allow for the bounceback.  :)

I am 5 3" and I haven't seen 130 since I was in high school. I was 150 when I was married mind you I was an inch taller too.

I am thinking 150 as my first goal and I will see when I get there. Notice I said when. That is the most positive I have ever been in my life.

Your goal weight as calculated by your surgeon is your start weight minus 80% of your excess weight (your start weight minus normal BMI weight) hitting this goal puts you in the "successful" category. This doesn't mean you can't set your own goal. Do remember to be realistic about the goal you set. . .maybe a "range" is a better idea.

Dr Hagen gave me a goal of 200 pounds. . .normal BMI is 169. . .I knew I likely would not hit the 160's although now that is probably attainable. . . I also knew 200 was not N acceptable goal for me. I wanted to be less than 200 and made it down to 184.

Funny thing is our body knows where it wants to be and once you reach that point you will bounce around that weight 2-5 pounds either side

hmmm guess that is why they do not argue with me when I say 180-200 as my goal. 80% of my excess weight at my "starting" point in the process for surgery puts me at 201 and change.

Cool.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to post something similar. I've read a lot about each person having a set point. Am I to continue to lose and hope that I stop losing?  I've hit a normal BMI but don't think ill ever be satisfied with how I look due to the excess skin I have. I don't have my next appointment at TWH until July.
