B12 Injections
So I was at the doctors on Thursday and told her I wanted to start getting injections of B12 instead of taking them orally. She gave me a prescription and guess what its covered under my plan so happy to hear this, I was willing to pay cause I thought it would be better but what an added Bonus.
So my question is how many shots a month do we need is it one or two? I can't find it anywhere in my book.
Thanks :)
Michele!

I am still pre-op and I get my b12 shot every 3 weeks and my b12 levels are still low so I also take liquid b12 every other day. I can just imagine what the levels will be like after my surgery. The b12 is also covered under my benefit plan but it is cheaper then my co-pay so I just buy it.

I'd be getting your doc to do regular labs to make sure your b12 levels aren't too high. Just because someone else has a certain dose of B12 doesn't mean that dose is right for you.
Personally I take no B12 - if i supplement I get levels that are two high and my iron stores suffer as a result - we might all have the same surgery but how are bodies react is different for each person.
Before RNY I got them monthly...I now have my partner do them at home 2x per month (every two weeks) I get the intramuscular syringes and the B12 at shoppers for next to nothing. My levels are perfect!
I run The O.W.L.S. (Ottawa Weight Loss Surgery) Closet. We are a local clothing exchange and social group stemmed off of a couple of the local support boards on Facebook and also OH members for those having had or going to have WLS. We meet monthly for a large clothing exchange and potluck in the East end of Ottawa.
