Can ONLY your family Dr refer you for GB?

I have a gastric band that I'm in the process of being referred to Dr Starr for removal.

I was denied GB because I have the band.  

Does anyone know if a specialist/surgeon etc can refer you for GB??

Your situation continues to confuse me. I will start by saying that OHIP will indeed fund a revision. I know people who have done this. I feel that your original attempt at this was done incorrectly (wrong/incomplete information sent to the Bariatric Registry) and now you are playing catch-up.

*****ferred you to Dr. Starr? At that time, you should have been referred to the Registry for revision WLS to remove the band and do a RNY. I don't understand why this wasn't done.

Any of your doctors can refer you for WLS, but you've already got a referral into Dr. Starr, so I don't understand what another referral would provide?

I was referred by a specialist, not a family doctor. The endocrinologist treating my PCOS suggested the surgery and handled the initial paperwork. 

Nurse practitioners can also refer you.
