advancing my diet before suggested time and other diet stuff *SIGHS*
so I am eating stage 3 baby foods. should I be concerned? I feel better now that I am eating something more hearty. I was eating egg drop soup from the beginning which he doesnt recomment til the 6th week but I didnt want anymore broth...couldnt take it.
for some reason I feel like my weight loss is slow and I wonder if this has something to do with it. I am not really drinking the protein shakes, it gives me gas.
I am getting frustrated.
I am trying to do the 30mins between eating and drinking but by the time the time passes. I think i am hungry again or I am confusing hunger for thirst./
I can barely think straight because I am not getting enough nutrients,,,,,
just venting
Good luck and hang in there... :-)

They told me even 10 days was too long because you cant be without the protein.........Anything you are drinking/eating is just passing thru........

OTOH stage 3 baby food is full of sodium and (often) sugar. If you are going to advance yourself, there are plenty of things that are a lot better for you and wont' slow down your weight loss such as skim milk, soy milk, greek yogurt and cottage cheese.

week 5- add in low fat/non fat yogurt, LF/NF cottage & rocotta cheese
week 6- soft protein (light and string cheese, refried beans) and soups (lentil, split peas black bean, miso, egg drop, etc) tofu
week 7- chicken, turkey and egg, etc
I read the other diet guidlines and that is why I knew I could progress earlier
the protein shakes have me making those gurgling noises I sound like a frog croaking, I cant take it
Why do you not feel it's important to follow the directions given to you by your Dr.? I'm assuming you or your insurance company paid him for the knowledge and professional training he has in this field.
I'm not saying that you're not going to "get sick of it" or you feel like you "can't take it". I am saying that this medical professional has more training and experience with the process you're going through and certainly knows you and your health situation much better than anyone you're going to find on an Internet forum. I guarantee you those that are most successful with this surgery are the ones that have followed their doctors instructions. Even the 4 weeks on liquids is not that long considering the life long benefits you're going to see if you're successful using your new tool.

I am having a hard time with cold food and so I did the soups. I though egg drop soup would be fine because I was eating the broth from won ton soup as well. when I first came home.
we didnt get the diet progression until the 1 week follow up ( It was about 8 of us) I was already doing the egg drop soup until I saw that was scheduled for week 6. I was like wow!
I preordered some chicken soup flavored protein drink and it was the savior of my sanity! (I'm more of a salt gal). It's a bariatric protein supplement so it feels, to me, to be much more pouch friendly. Check the labels and make sure it's not too salty or too sugary. Some of the over the counter proteins are loaded with salt and sugar, and at first, you could be sensitive to that. When you feel nauseous or have that crampy stuck feeling - walk walk walk. It really does work.
Take GasX for the gas :) They have the ones that disolve on your tongue - works wonders. Also make sure you're taking your antacid, that can help too.
I read that the "hungry again" feeling can happen if you are taking too big of a bite and it sits at the top of the pouch rather than sliding down to the bottom and filling up your stomach. If you eat tiny tiny bites and take a break between each bite, you will gently fill the pouch and feel full longer.
I think the bottom line is, though, the guidelines are there to protect your pouch. Too much, too soon can stretch the pouch or worse, cause a leak, which would be really dangerous. I'd also talk to your doctor about the nausea because they can give you meds for that.
I hope that helps a little bit! Good luck :D
