2 Surgeries Required

Talked to my surgeons assistant today about a revision from lap band to VSG. I was told that they have done several but it required 2 surgeries. Have to have band removed then wait 3-4 months to have sleeve done. I think my insurance would cover the sleeve but have to pay band removal out of pocket. Guess I will give this band another try.

Hmmm maybe you should check around for other surgeons in your area.  I have seen quite a few ppl up here who had their band removed and sleeved on the same day.  Also I don't know why your insurance wouldn't pay for a revision esp. if it is all done at once.  I would fight for this.  Good Luck in your journey.  Kerry

I had to have two, they told me that it lowers the chance of a leak and other complications significantly if you let the stomach heal inbetween.

ETA my insurance covered both removal and revision b/c of the issues I had with my band. If they code it right, your insurance should cover it unless your plan on covers one surgery for a lifetime.
