Hi all, I went to my family Dr., who is pretty clueless about the sleeve, to get my refill for Motrin. I have been having knee pain for over 3 years, but now that I have finally started using my knee ( by working out), My knee is killing me, and he won't refill it. Can't we take Motrin with the VSG??? I'm confused.

Yes. There are no medication restrictions with VSG. However, with that being said, it is recommended to take any type of NSAID with something on your stomach just like when we had big stomachs.

I have taken every type of NSAID medication since being about 6-7 weeks out without issue.

In the pregnancy, I am currently taking 60mg of prednisone (a steroid), and have not had any stomach or GI upset because I take it with food on my stomach as recommended.

Yes, we are allowed motrin and nsaids like alleve...that was one of the reasons for VSG for me,  as opposed to RNY.....since I have inflammatory arthritis...

Yes, you CAN take Motrin with the sleeve.  BUT, it is VERY important that you ALWAYS TAKE IT WITH SOME FOOD OR MILK.

I take 800mg of Motrin three times every day.  It was approved by my surgeon, and i got it the day OF surgery and every day since,

If your doctor will not approve it, ask him to send an e-mail to the "Center For Weight Loss Surgery" at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for clarification.
