Just got out of my Doctor's office and was in tears....I KNOW I need to lose weight dangit! That is why I am talking about wls. She was the one who mentioned it in the first place and now is telling me when the time comes for me to have children it could be difficult (taking in enough cals).

I am questioning my reasoning for wanting the VSG. I want children, but I want them at a healthy weight! I want to live the life I have NEVER lived in a HEALTHY body.

Losing your weight without surgery is preferred....- My thing is I CAN and HAVE lost the weight again and again only to regain it plus some.

251 pounds, nine away from my all time heaviest... I am a wreck and have to go to work now.

i got my vsg pre babies i wanted to be healthy and i needed this tool. don't worry about the doctor, there are plenty of ladies here who have had successful healthy pregnancies after VSG. don't let that stop you !!

She's lying and she's tripping.  First off you ONLY need to consume about 300 calories OVER whatever your normal consumption to have a healthy viable pregnancy.  With that said...unless you are planning to get pregnant in say 6 months of surgery...the further out there is NO problem at ALL eating more calories.  The portions SIZE might not change MUCH but you can eat more often if necessary.

There are TONS of healthy WLS pregnancies out there...and without all the malabsorption to contend with it's even better!!

I think you should stick around and wait a few days for the arrival of the vsg board baby Tatum,  USA Wife is only a few days away from delivery and her drs are thrilled with her progress not to mention she looks fabulous and extrememly healthy...

I sure she will be around soon to tell you her own story.... But do not let what your dr said deter you, you are doing the right thing to lose the weight first..

I do not miss the day's of going to the Dr because I had the flu to having to sit thruogh a lecture about my weight. One time I told the OBGYN I was there for my pap not to discuss my weight. It was always annoying-they act like we dont's know we were everweight!

Get a doctor that knows what the hell their talking about.

Also, go look at USAFWife, she's about 39 weeks pregnant AFTER a LapBand AND a Sleeve Revision.

Stupid doctors are dangerous people to listen to.

Yeah that's just not true. I had a high risk specialist OB with my last pregnancy (gestational diabetes and asthma problems as well as weight) and at my 6 week checkup I told her I was considering WLS. She told me that she only knows the obstetric/gestational side of WLS and that any of her patients who had WLS (and specifically, she only had gastric bypass patients), "everyone did very well". And that's with a surgery with a basis in malabsorption, let alone the sleeve.

My doctor specifically recommended VSG because of my age (i'm 26) and if I wanted to have another baby (I have a 3 1/2 year old already), it was the better route to go!

Thank you all for your thoughts. That appointment set the tone for my day :(

I feel better now and am soldiering on to my consult with the surgeon.

My Doctor told me her opinion, I guess for a moment I  thought I had to choose between  this surgery and having children, which at the time really affected me. Thank you again ALL :)
