Vertical Sleeve change to Gastric Bypass
Hi everyone,
Has anyone had a problem with their sleeve that it had to be converted to bypass? I had my surgery on 9/5 lost 53 pounds so far but my GERD is bad even though I am taking a ****tail of medications. The doctor mentioned that if it doesn't get better that would be the last option and I am out of pocket. I am desperate any advice?????

I'd get a swallow scan and see the shape of your sleeve..... It should look something like a banana or boomerang like with a consistent width.....
Could be a stricture or a twist/kink or a narrowing .......
A common error for less experienced surgeons is to get it to tight at the curve. It's a place where it's easiest to get the bougie snug up to the spine of the stomach and you end up with a funnel shaped sleeve..... Some even end up looking hour glass shaped.....this can cause reflux among other problems.
The common treatment is a (or several) procedure to expand (stretch) the narrowed section.
Hope this helps in some way.... I'm not a doctor or ever played one on TV......
