My father may beat me to the table

 I have been on this journey since August and working hard at getting all the classes and tests done and losing some weight pre op.  I go see my surgeon on Dec. 7 and she is supposed to give me my date then.
My father (lucky *******) started his journey in October and is self pay, so no Insurance requirements to fulfill, and he has his date already... Dec 15.
 I think it is a good thing that I had to go through so many classes beforehand because now I can prepare dear old dad for the things to come, as well as myself... but part of me is jealous that he will most likely beat me to the operating table.  

I am proud of him... I don't see too many 300 pound 70 year old men walking around and I want him to be around for a long time.

That's awesome that your dad is having the surgery, and that you'll have someone to share the journey with!
