draining tubes

Does everybody that gets the VSG go home with those draining tubes....and usually for how many days?

I didn't. Mine was out before I even woke up in recovery. But that's just my Doc.

I stayed overnight in the hospital, and mine was removed the next morning about 7am.

I had no drainage tubes at all. Lucky me!

I had my surgery Wed...I'll have my tube taken out my first post op appt. are you having problems with yours?

I will have my vsg on valentines day....right now im trying to get as much information as possible.  I hope I won't need them !!

My drainage tube came out the day I left the hospital, but it continued to drain for about three days. Here is some advice for you. The hospital dressed it with gauze pads, but that did not work very well. So my wife came up with a plan. She cut up some of her thin Maxi pads, which worked great. I never thought I would have to use a woman's product, but hey it worked. LOL

I had no JP (Jackson Pratt) drains, my surgeon said that no excess fluid and didn't need one.
