Start slowly. The worst thing you can do is start too hard and injure yourself. I would start with walking 3-5 times a week just to get yourself in the habit of moving. Start with 10-15 minute reasonably brisk walks and work your way up in intensity and distance. When you get to the point where it's 'easy,' push harder. After you build up your fitness level, you can look at more strenuous exercise and strength training.
