Im talking like one in the 5k range. My nephew is really large, last time I talked to him I think he said he was 420. He is about 5'11 or 6'0 and he needs this surgery desperately, but of course, his insurance does not cover it. He is only 22, but already have problems walking because of his knees.

So, which Mexico surgeons would you recommend in the 5k range, they do not have a lot of money, but we know his health will not hold out much longer if he does not do something.

I applaud where your heart is.  I would just advise real caution, there are some extreme horror stories about surgeries in Mexico.  I wouldn't necessarily make prioce the deciding factor.

There are good surgeons and good experiences in MExico as well.  Be extremely dilligent with your research - just as you would in the US.

yea I know... I know. I was looking into Alvarez in Mexico before insurance approved me, but they simply can not afford him, even with help from the fam.

only ones in that range that I would recommend are Dr Kelly I think he is 5500 and dr Ponce de Leon he is around the same rate. Something you need to know is they only perform a 36 sleeve so if he is looking at smaller I think you are looking around 10000 for the mexicali surgeons.

I had Dr Kelly no complaints at all, and he speaks english and stays in contact with you post op. The hotel afterwards is really nice and he comes to visit you every day. You book through his website directly now and fill out the forms then he calls.

The wait list here for our VSG surgery is over ten years which our healthcare plan pays for but I didn't think I could wait that long with weight just going up and up over the years. I had major feet issues where I could barely walk without severe pain so exercise was out of the question.

Feel free to send me a message on here if you have any questions or need the website address.

Yes, Nova Scotia. It is ten to twenty year wait. Over 2000 on the wait list, they do 60-80 surgeries a year, you do the math.

I paid $8750 for Dr. Aceves to do my surgery. Is this out of his reach? The best thing he can do for himself is to call the surgeon to see if he can work something out, rather than settle and take risks with his life. I know a few people, personally, who used a different surgeon in Mexico (none that have been mentioned on this thread so far) and one had a leak, one had a collapsed lung, and one can eat large portions.

I know that price is a major factor when desciding to do this surgery but you need to be very careful not to chose a surgeon. I had my surgery with Dr Alverez and did very well, it was the first time I had surgery and did not get a post op infection. I know that he has financing and his repitation speaks for itself. Good luck and I hope that he gets this taken care of.

He don't have to go to Mexico, Dr Morris Washington from Conway SC has a inclusive price for the lap band and sleeve for $8,000 all test pre-op and post-op. Please look him up.
