5 weeks out

This journey is getting pretty interesting now...  I am on real food and my tolerance for certain foods changes from day to day. I still am never hungry and I have no problems getting my fluids in anymore.
My NUT told me to stop tracking calories and protein grams and just measure out my portions of whatever I want to eat. 1/4 cup 3 times a day. Last night for dinner I had 2 chicken wing drumetts and a strawberry.
I feel great and I am learning quickly how to live with my new sleeve.
I have lost 18 pounds since surgery and dropped one size in clothing. My skin itches all over and my skin and hair are shedding big time... regenerating new tighter cells I suppose.
I need to turn up my workout intensity from walking briskly for an hour to actually breaking a sweat, I am sure that would be beneficial.
I'm happy I decided to do this surgery. It's a great tool to help keep you disciplined.

Congrats! I'm glad it's going so well for you.

I'm am amazed at how different our NUTs are - even though we're in the same system. My team is all about tracking. Funny, isn't it.

Keep up the great work!

I know !!  It is strange and I told my NUT that she basically has the opposite advice of every other wls program I know of, but she promised me I had enough "nutritional stores" (fat) to keep me from starving to death and that I will actually consume those "stores" for quite a while ( with the help of water). I do still track my food and I get about 300 calories a day and 60 to 80 oz fluids.

I would still track... I feel better when I do... but I would be most worried about ur protein goal!!! Yes u have fat stores, but u need protein to maintain ur lean muscle mass... if u don't have enough ur muscles will break down...

U have to do whats best for u... this early out we can't get our protein goals by just eating...

Good luck!

I noticed your heaviest weight was 290 but your pre op was 227. How did you get down so low before surgery? My mom is having the vsg but she is required to first lose 10% bodyweight. I need suggestions for her. I am having it too but my dr isn't requiring it.

I was required to lose 29 pounds pre op on Kaisers meal plan of 1000 to 1200 calories a day. By the time I got through all the pre op requirements/classes and finally got on the table (6 mo), I had lost 63 pounds. It worked out great because I had a very speedy recovery from surgery.
